Toy Story 5 Trailer Pits The Beloved Duo Against a Tablet Computer
It has been 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story movie was released, launching the animation giant as a leading film company and bringing audiences to beloved figures like the cowboy doll (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now household names.
In 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a brief look into the storyline but keeping fans curious how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Toys
The preview reveals Bonnie — who received Andy's toys when he grew up — receiving a latest plaything, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She gets her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.
Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the characters appear to consider it as a threat coming to replace them, which it probably is.
Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the trailer doesn't touch on is what the sheriff is returned with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a new adventure with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), journeying with a fair and assisting prize toys find good homes.
Certainly, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him show up in the familiar setting without warning is somewhat puzzling, however. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And where is the stuntman toy (the star)?
Continuity from the Previous Film
Fortunately, some elements are carrying over from the earlier movie. The last thing the cowboy did before departing for his new life was pass his sheriff badge to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her as the leader of the toy domain. In the teaser displays the badge attached to her shirt.
Hopefully she is still the driving force among the group.
Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
