An extensive two-month journey around the Australian Coast has been cancelled in the wake of the death of an older female passenger who was left behind by the cruise liner on a remote island.

The passenger had been hiking on the remote island with fellow passengers from the vessel, but separated from the excursion for a rest. The liner left without her and went back several hours later after the personnel discovered the passenger was missing.

An extensive rescue mission found her remains the subsequent day.
