Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hardcourt

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his initial title for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The athlete, a former world number one, has had a challenging year, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in specific - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with former mentor Cervara.

Currently training with his coach and his other coach, he has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's first championship since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface after that period of 2023.

The win also means the Russian has achieved twenty-one titles at 21 various tournaments.

"For the first time I am participating in a event with my children simultaneously, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," stated ranked player the champion.

"This championship is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the first title I achieved when my child her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six championship matches, including in that event earlier this year.

The player's counter-punching strategy and regular outbursts on the tennis court had caused observers to question if his capacity to compete at the elite level was finished.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, attempting to come to the net and compete aggressively, reinforced by an better serving game.

He came back from a deficit in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, securing 4 of the last five points to take the lead.

The pair traded break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first tour victory, seized the initiative to force a final set.

He rescued four initial chances in a competitive final set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to close out the victory.

Appropriately, he secured the win with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
