Both Deceased Students Named in Brown University Shooting as Police Continue Search for Perpetrator.

Both young individuals who lost their lives in Saturday’s tragic incident on the university campus were being remembered Monday – while an intensive search for their killer continued following the release by Rhode Island officials of the only individual detained in connection in the case.

Remembering Ella Cook

The student Ella Cook, a sophomore from Alabama, was called “a wonderful, steady, devout, shining presence”, according to the Birmingham's Cathedral Church of the Advent, which offered condolences for her at a ceremony on Sunday.

Her role included the vice-presidency of Brown’s division of the campus GOP group, as the club stated. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also shared words of sorrow online, remarking: “There are no words. Keeping in mind her kin and peers, particularly her mother and father.”

MukhammadAziz Umurzokov

The other deceased individual was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov from Uzbekistan, an Uzbek national in his freshman year at the prestigious university, according to relatives.

The victim's identification was officially acknowledged by Uzbekistan’s foreign ministry.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. He had big dreams of becoming a neurosurgeon and helping people,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a memorial statement.

What Happened

Nine more persons were hurt in Saturday’s attack in the school of engineering of Brown’s campus in Providence, during the institution's end-of-term tests.

Officials stated on Sunday evening that a 24-year-old male taken into custody in a raid at a lodging about around 27 kilometers from the campus earlier in the day was being released.

“A perpetrator remains free,” declared Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.

Neronha explained, “Sometimes you head in one direction, and then you have to regroup and head another way, and that’s exactly what has happened over the last approximately one day.”

Cook was remembered at a religious service in Birmingham on Sunday. A clergyman said, “She was an incredible, grounded, faithful bright light not only during her upbringing... but at the university she was a radiant presence in that particular place as well.”

Martin Bertao, Martin Bertao, posted a statement from the club. “Ella was known for her fearless, heroic, and gentle spirit as she worked for her branch and other students,” he said.
